The 4th International Conference on System Reliability and Safety (ICSRS) was held in Rome, Italy this November.

Jenny Lantair, a PhD student from the Smart Systems Group represented a number of researchers in their work on the operator’s perception of safety and reliability in Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), in the UK. Their research examined the occurrence rate of critical and non-critical failures alongside the common causes of these issues, as well as possible solutions. Informed by their novel data they suggest a range of possible research and engineering projects which would be beneficial to industry.

Zain Shafiq and Matt Osborne, also PhD students, along with Xingyu Zhao, David Flynn and Valentin Robu from Heriot-Watt University worked alongside top industrial contacts such as co-author John Perry, from the company Texo.
