Darius is currently a PhD Researcher as part of CDT in Embedded Intelligence, majoring in Prognostics and Health Management of Critical Assets.
Previously he had been working as a Design Verification Engineer in the oil & gas industry where he was mainly responsible for FEA analysis and modelling of high pressure equipment.
Darius holds a 1st class MEng Degree with joint honours in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from the University of Aberdeen. During his undergraduate studies, he joined the Institute of Robotics and Intelligent System (IRIS) at ETH Zurich as a visiting student researcher where he developed a novel catheter cleaning microrobot, exploring the design and manufacture of the inductively driven catheter device. In his final year of his master studies, he undertook research into complex electromechanical systems, namely Offshore Wind Turbines developing rotor design algorithms for airfoil selection processes for improved efficiency.
Currently, his PhD research project aims at using a fusion prognostics approach bringing together physics of failure modelling, condition monitoring, statistics and machine learning techniques to predict the remaining useful life in drill strings. The project is a joint research initiative between HeriProject: Modelling of critical assets and Fusion Prognostics for Predicting the Remaining Useful Life of the Drill String
